Man Charged With Conspiring To Import Cocaine

Appearing in Magistrates Court today [August 19], a 54-year-old man was charged with conspiring with others to import cocaine.

Curtis Swan appeared before Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo and was charged with, that between a date unknown and May 2015, he conspired with others to import cocaine.

The Crown Prosecutor told the Magistrate that the amount was alleged to be 2,716 grams which was allegedly soaked into heavy wrapping paper.

The second charge was that he was involved in the removal of a sum of money which he knew was the proceeds of criminal activity.

Swan was ordered to appear at the Supreme Court Arraignments in November; granted bail of $100,000 and required to provide a surety in a like amount; ordered to report to Hamilton Police Station three times a week; not leave Bermuda without the permission of the Court; and surrender his travel documents.

Aaron Johnston’s name was also called to answer to a charge, however Johnston was absent and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
