Video: Student Continues Work With Air Care

Summer student Stephon Paynter is seeing parts of the Island he’s never seen before as his work with Air Care takes him from St. George’s to Dockyard.

Air Care, one of the Island’s leading air conditioning and mechanical services companies, partnered with Impact Mentoring Academy to provide vocational training this summer for one of its students. It is hoped 15-year-old Stephon will be the first of many to benefit from the partnership.

In his sixth week, Stephon visited three different businesses, getting to work on three separate projects including helping to install a new chiller on the roof of the Emporium Building on Front Street.

He said: “I’ve really been getting all over the place, it is really getting me all around Bermuda. I’ve been to Dockyard to St. George’s and town. It’s getting me from place to place.”

Air Care’s General Manager, Brendan Stones, said he was very pleased with the progress made by Stephon, who is now interested in a career in the HVAC industry.

“It has been very rewarding for us to watch Stephon grow in confidence and ability in the work he is doing with the Air Care Team. By the end of his summer employment, he should have a really good feel for the type of work we do and the future education and training pathway he needs to follow in order to become internationally certified.

“Air Care is focused on educating young Bermudians on the various career opportunities and training requirements of the HVAC industry and this partnership with Impact is a key part of achieving that goal.”
