Video: Houston Returns From Olympic Games
Tre Houston returned home from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio today [August 23], and speaking at the airport, Houston said the “experience was wonderful” and he “wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
The sprinter — who made Bermuda’s first appearance in the 200m in twenty years — said he has worked hard for 18 years and competing in the Olympics was “worth all the hard work.”
Houston placed 6th in the 200m heats, crossing the line in a time of 20.85, which equates to 34.5 km/h, meaning the 26-year-old sprinter was running at a pace on par with the Bermuda speed limit.
Houston was part of Bermuda’s eight-strong team that represented the island in five different sports, joining rower Shelley Pearson, long jumper Tyrone Smith, swimmers Julian Fletcher and Rebecca Heyliger, sailors Cameron Pimentel and Ceci Wollmann, and triathlete Flora Duffy.
Well done continue to work hard all the best in the future champ!
Well done, Tre.Proud for you and of you!!
Trey, I was overwhelmed with joy to see a Bermudian young adult male representing Bermuda in track and field. While my wifes video went viral cheering Bolt with her dutch pot pans. You should know this Bermudian born male was screaming and in tears of joy as you took every stride. I hope your example catches on in Bermuda.
Congratulations Tre. Thank you for representing Bermuda. I wish all the best with your future running career and I look forward to seeing you in the next Olympics.
Well done Tre and the whole Bermuda team.
