Armed Robbery At Pasta Basta On Elliot Street
In what marks the third armed robbery this month, the police confirmed that they responded to an armed robbery at Pasta Basta on Elliot Street last night, in which a “male brandishing what is believed to be a firearm entered the restaurant, removed a quantity of cash from the till and exited the premises.”
A police spokesperson said, “Around 9:45pm on Tuesday, September 27th police officers were dispatched to a reported armed robbery at Pasta Basta on Elliot Street West in Pembroke.
“It appears that an unknown male brandishing what is believed to be a firearm entered the restaurant, removed a quantity of cash from the till and exited the premises.
“The suspect, described as 6 feet tall of slim build wearing black clothing and a black helmet, apparently fled on a black motorcycle towards Laffan Street.
“No employees of Pasta Basta were injured.
“Inquiries continue and any witnesses that may have seen suspicious activity near Pasta Basta around 9:45pm Tuesday should contact the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.”
This follow after the armed robbery at the Soares store in Spanish Point on September 20th, and the armed robbery at the Wok Express on Union Street on September 25th. This is also the second time there has been an armed robbery at Pasta Basta this year, with the first incident occurring in March.

I hope the Police Force understands that you will have innocent people who will acquire weapons of their own to protect themselves if the police force and judicial system doesn’t get tougher.
They need witnesses to help catch these people..otherwise it’s just another punk wearing a dark visor in dark clothing riding a (stolen) black motorbike that gets away..
They HAVE witnesses, but if there’s nothing outstanding about the robber then what more can they say?
They don’t even bother to issue a description of the robber’s appearance any more. It’s just a “male”.

Bermuda is getting really scary. No way would I want to be closing out evening cash at ANY restaurant on the Island these days.

I can almost tell you what’s going to happen… The little small restaurants and stores will post on their doors that they accept debit or credit cards only. We will not take cash. I’m wondering if that would be the best route. I hope not…but for the safety of staff… hey why not.
Then the banks will up their rates for cards and the stores will have to up their prices.
Its time for some doors to be kicked in bps. U know what gangs it is and u know where they sit off everyday let’s have it before a members of the public start doing your jobs. And when they get caught take them straight fishing .

Even though there is a correlation (not sure about direct) there is no evidence that one event directly causes the other.
This also leaves out the fact that there are people who love the thrill involved in committing these crimes. Thriving on the power they get temporarily, especially when they aren’t caught. One could also say (from a psychological perspective) that in these individuals lives they are powerless over something and this is their way of reclaiming that power.
There are too many Bermudian’s out of work because some (NOT ALL) want a job just handed to them! Those days are gone! If people really wanted to work, they would. Not all jobs are going to pay well or be glamours, but at the end of the day a little money is better than no money at all.
This entitled mentality that we have has got to stop!

As a Bermudian with three, yes THREE jobs, so you can shove that folly “no jobs for Bermudians”.
These people do not want to work nor have the basic skill sets necessary to work. You want to blame someone? Start blaming Bermuda’s Education system.
i like the idea of the dye pack in the cash till, whether it be a smal l, mwedium or large business. The criminals are usually choosing small one and two person operated businesses in isolated areas on the out=skirts of the city as well as small businesses through-out the Island. Cards only sounds like a great idea, how-ever quite a few use cash. We need to look at swift trials, at the moment the earliest trial is 4 months away for minor criminal matters, more serious may take a yea r at least, and understandable due to much time is needed in investiagations and preparation for trial. A stronger police presence is also needed…they can find money for Americas Cup, than find 5 million a year for additional police officers, and use in high criminal areas particularly.
Social textbooks will also show that no matter where you go, there are those who prefer a life of crime and not to keep legitimate jobs. BPS in this time are not proactive enough. They’ve hired a bunch of kids who are in it just for the money. Enthusiasm and morale is at an all time low.
