no criticism here…..well done Mikey! Now teach Richards a lesson in responsible spending.
I fail to see why people are blaming Minister Richards. There was a cabinet shuffle, and he ended up in that role. He stated that he didn’t want to go, but gave in to pressure…it’s the Olympics after all (pardon the sarcasm). The problem is when one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing. Minister Gordon-Pamplin could have gone and represented Bermuda as a government official and saved a boatload of money. Collectively the Cabinet is to blame, not just Minister Richards.
LOL, that’s even funnier than his own explanation. ‘He didn’t want to go but gave in to pressure’. You’re hilarious.
He couldn’t wait to take full advantage of the perks he felt he was entitled to.
You missed the point. Why should he be hung out to dry on his own? They’re collectively responsible.
If he really did not want to go and was forced to go, it definitely did not have to be for two first class tickets.. we could have saved at least $10,000 right there alone, so I don’t buy it..and don’t even start on the hotel costs.
“The problem is when one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing.”
This is not true. Whenever a Minister will be off island, the Premier and the Cabinet are in the know.
An Acting Minister is then appointed for the time period of which the Minister will be away…..A Minister cannot simply disappear or make unknown trips.
Hence my point that they are ALL responsible as a group. People are holding Fahy up like some hero because he took a cheap trip. As a cabinet minister, he’s equally responsible for the Rio fiasco.
you right about that Bermuda has more actors than Hollywood running the island,. that is why we are scrxxd…
I agree and disagree with you. The whole Cabinet is to blame if neither made mention of their travel prior to going. But Minister Richards shouldn’t have gone if his ticket was that expensive. And his PS certainly should not have gone.
No criticism ????
I guess de $250,000 for renovating a office he wants to use, plus de office he’s renting now because he dont want to be stuck in de Back-O-Town plush office is compensation.
Yup. Sounds about correct.
Does not want to be with “back – o -town” people in a plush office.
I agree Tranquility.
Now could some remind me what is the role of Bermuda Tourism Authority. This sounds like their work.
Tourism cant even sell water to a sailor.
Hotel seems kinda expensive for 5 nights.
$550 a night for King Fahy
You need a new calculator.
What did the Burj Al Arab cost again?
SO WHAT less than the previous lot spent eh playboy
But just a mere fraction of the cost that Doc stuck us with for his stay at the Burj to do nothing but rub shoulders with rich and famous. And his response at the time was that he would not apologise for his choice of accommodation, grumbling that some people expect him to stay at Holiday Inns when he’s away.
How quickly his little minions forget.
TO ACTION SPEAK LOUDER THEN WORDS:
hhmm.. sounds like the taxpayers foot that one.
Did we even know he was about to travel out of our funds???
I wonder how much each day for wine and song ????
SO WHAT less than the previous lot spent eh playboyless than you would I am sure
I thought it is policy that Ministers only travel on Government business with their Permanent Secretary. Wasn’t that one of the points arising from Jetgate?
??
fey ??
??
Here we go ,the dreaded the Monday morning meeting.
The Blue Suits makes every body there feel important.
Sends a message to their subordinates.
Do they serve doughnuts and coffee.
Do they walk the talk or talk the walk ?
I would have thought they would love to come here.
More time is wasted in meetings.
No body remembers what is said and by whom.
Don’t tax payers pay a wage from which employees buy their own food.
He did not get a free seat on the Jet.
Don’t look ! what is the third word of my rant.
Hey ! we get more done on Bernews.
when its right you hear about it.
When its wrong you hear about it.
When its sad you hear about it.
When it stinks you hear about it.
Don’t Cry for me Argentina……….
Can’t believe you people really believe that was the full amount for him to travel three different places lol where is the proof behind these numbers…. any one can say ” oh I went to ny for the weekend. Cost me 2,346.54 only! Lol
He went looking at casinos? That’s great Mikey but Govt has been “looking” for years now. How about we actually do something about getting one of our own casinos up and running for Americas Cup? And not just any casino. We need a Bermudian product that is powered by Bermudians to be unique and competitive. Get us some jobs that are permanent and not low end pay scale Mikey pppppleeease!
where were the detail of plp expenses? Brown’s excessive use of taxpayer money.
Er…
Standing Orders.
Where was the Permeant Secretary?
