‘Paralympians Represented Bermuda With Pride’
“We join with all of Bermuda in congratulating the achievements of our most deserving Paralympians who represented Bermuda with determination and pride,” Minister of Social Development and Sports Sylvan Richards said.”
“We are truly excited by their accomplishments and wish them well. Thank you to Jessica Cooper Lewis and Yushae Desilva Andrade for representing our country so well during the Rio Paralympics,” the Minister added.
Bermuda’s Paralympic team enter the Opening Ceremony:
The Paralympic Games concluded last night, with Bermuda having been represented by two athletes, sprinter Jessica Lewis and boccia player Yushae Desilva-Andrade,
Lewis placed 6th in the 100m final and finished 11th overall in the 400m and 800m, setting personal best times in two of her events, while Yushae Desilva-Andrade was also in action for Bermuda, which marked the first time the island has fielded a boccia athlete in the Paralympics.
Minister Richards, It is also fitting that you show how much they are appreciated by hosting a little reception. These are athletes that face physical challenges every day of their lives and still find the passion to compete and do admirably well against 186 different countries! Just a suggestion..
Many Blessings
