Public Consultation On BELCO Metering Request

BELCO has submitted a request to vary its power purchase pricing resulting in a rate decrease, termination of the current residential net metering program, and implementation of an interim scheme to the Energy Commission, and the public is invited to make written submissions to the Commission about the matter.

A Government spokesperson said, “The public is advised that in accordance with Part 3, Section 12 of the Energy Act 2009, BELCO has submitted a request to vary its power purchase pricing resulting in a rate decrease, termination of the current residential net metering program, and implementation of an interim scheme to the Energy Commission.

“Further supporting information is available for public review at BELCO’s head office located on Serpentine Road, on the BELCO website, or at the Department of Energy reception desk located on the 3rd Floor of the Government Administration Building, 30 Parliament Street in Hamilton or on the Energy Commission’s webpage under the “Filings and Decisions” section.

“Members of the public are invited to make written submissions to the Commission by 5:00PM ADT Monday October 3rd, 2016.

“Submissions should be delivered to The Energy Commission c/o Department of Energy, 3rd Floor, Government Administration Building, 30 Parliament Street, Hamilton or mailed to The Energy Commission, P.O. Box HM 101, Hamilton HMAX or emailed to the Energy Commission at energycommission@gov.bm.”

    Need to rearch this. It looks like they are asking to rate power based on whatever the current purchase price is. Right now it may be a rate decrease but that won’t be the case if they want varied rates.

    No one cares that BELCOs “program” that pays full price to the first people to go solar, will be ended for anyone else, except those already being paid full price and those who had their plans submitted by the end of august (they of course will continue to be paid at that rate)? They also limit the size so no one can live off selling solar produced power back to the grid or to neighbors.

    This is so crazy they are putting this right in our faces can’t you see no matter what the public does to try and get around not paying these outraged prices for electricity.

    Belco find another way to get more money from us and the government is right there helping them. OBA Grant Gibbons and others what are you really losing you own everything stop this greed
