BNAA To Host Track Meet & Social On Saturday
The Bermuda National Athletics Association will be hosting their first track meet this coming Saturday, aiming to start preparations early for next year’s Carifta Games.
BNAA President Donna Raynor said, “The BNAA will be hosting its first track meet this coming Saturday at the National Sports Center at 1:00pm. We are trying to prepare early for Carifta 2017 and this will be more of a talent search event where athletes will be competing in events other than their normal event so we can identify the events that athletes should really be competing in.
“We decided that it was too late to begin preparation of our athletes in January as is our normal, and will have a meet in November and December as well and will have a different format from this one.
“Following the track meet we will also be hosting a social at the track to meet and greet the athletes, coaches and officials. We are hoping to have some of our sponsors and will be inviting the Minister of Youth and Sport.
“We have put together a plan for the year, with training camps, additional days with specific event coaches and additional track meets to try to best prepare our athletes for Carifta.
“We thank you for your support throughout the years and hope you will be able to join us after the track meet for our social [hamburgers and hot dogs].”
