Public Service Bursary Awards: Busby, Ratteray
The Public Service Commission announced that Ms. Andesha Busby and Ms. Tenneil Ratteray are the recipients of their 2016 Bursary Awards,
“The Government of Bermuda Public Service Bursaries are awarded annually by the Public Service Commission to selected applicants enrolled in courses of study at a university, college or other training institution,” a spokesperson said.
“Students must be Bermudian and studying to acquire professional or technical qualifications, specified by Heads of Departments as essential or desirable for appointment to ‘hard to fill posts’ within the Public Service.
“Hard to fill posts are those that are regularly filled by Non-Bermudians on a work permit. Skilled workers have always been a commodity, but in many specialized areas, finding Bermudians with the required certifications or qualifications needed are becoming a rarity.

“The Public Service Commission congratulates these young women and wish them all the best in their studies and future careers.
“Ms. Busby was awarded a four year award by the Land Valuation Department. Valuation is a specialist and unique field and unfortunately, a discipline that is unknown or unfamiliar to most students in Bermuda.
“Ms. Busby will be attending the University of Reading in the UK, studying for a BSc in Real Estate leading to a Diploma/MSc in Urban Planning and Development. Ms. Busby is a licensed Real Estate Agent/Broker and will put that training to use with her studies. Her ultimate goal is to be a member of The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors [RICS].
“Ms. Ratteray was awarded a one year Bursary by the Department of Health. Ms. Ratteray is presently attending Oakwood University in Huntsville Alabama, where she is in the Pre-Physical Therapy Programe with an expected graduation date of May 2017.
“After this, she plans on studying Physical Therapy, specializing in special needs and pediatrics. Ms. Ratteray has consistently remained on the Dean’s List and has been inducted as a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society.”
Well done, fellow Bermudians. May your academic paths be rich, meaningful, filled with top grades and tons of success!!
