Katerina Smith has achieved a lifetime’s dream of running her own business after taking over a popular Hamilton café, as she has bought Nonna’s on Bermudiana Road, and has plans to expand its menu and make the cafe more vibrant with more variety.

“I’ve lived in Bermuda for 16 years, but I am originally from Bulgaria. We will not be making too many changes but I want to add some of my signature dishes, some Eastern European dishes like lamb and sautéed vegetables, as well as some Bulgarian salads,” she said.
“My chef is from the Philippines and will also add some of his signature Asian dishes,” said Ms Smith, who has vast experience in the catering industry having managed Café Ten, Café 4 and Tuscany before it became Bolero.

“We also have some plans to make Nonna’s more vibrant and more interesting, so keep an eye on our Facebook page.”
She added: “My father was a restauranteur and it has always been a dream of mine to own my own place and work for myself and when this opportunity came up, I just grabbed it.
“Nonna’s is a great place that has been working very well since it opened. I am just so happy to be running it now and very excited for the future.”

good luck…if it is not broke don’t fix it. my unsolicited advice.
if not, watch it slip away. the bermuda market can be very fickle.

You want more………………………..
Congrats.
It’s there if people just step up to the plate; literally.
Shalom.
I sure hope that the cornbread recipe doesn’t as that is the main reason I patronize Nonna’s.
See ‘Bermuda Made Ice Cream’.
The end is 2017.
Shalom.
(with attitudes like that).
Dislike all you want.
Greed.
thank you for caring enough to single out my comment…
said the same thing with Black Horse Tavern: it was an institution with a simple menu but well executed dishes. cue ‘new’ management and prices rose while service levels deteriorated. um mum how is Black Horse faring these days?
Dorothy’s was smart: an institution with a simple menu serving consistently good food. despite, the temptation to change, they never wavered. in other words, they did not fix what wasn’t broken.
…next.
Peace out.
Best of luck my friend you have a good opportunity and with your work ethic you will be very successful .
hummmmm……bye bye buzz! hello Nona’s
Well done and congrats Katerina. You have a great product, wonderful customers and hard working and friendly staff.
I will be there every day as I love it.
Congratulations, sounds like you will be bringing some great, new tasty dishes to the menu and some new color and vibrancy. It’s nice, but very basic right now. Also, love the name Katerina’s instead of Nonnas which sounds like a grandmother. Looking forward to the changes and can’t wait to try your new yummy food.
Yes! Change the name to Katerina’s!
Congrats Katrina you deserve this new venture
Awesome! Looking forward to Chef Ryan’s creations…
Best wishes. Knock them dead. You have what it takes.
