Photos: Car Crashes Through Harbour Road Wall
[Updated] Emergency services responded to the Harbour Road, Paget area this afternoon [Dec 9] where a car crashed through a wall resulting in the front of the vehicle hanging off the road above Hamilton Harbour.
Police have closed the road off diverting traffic away from the scene. Details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.
Update 3.13pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 1pm on Friday, December 9th police officers as well as Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel responded to a reported single vehicle car crash on Harbour Road in Paget near Lower Ferry.
Initial information indicates that the vehicle involved struck a wall and ended up hanging off the edge of the roadway. There were no reported injuries and traffic diversions were temporarily in effect at Highwood Lane and Chapel Road while efforts to remove the damaged vehicle were underway.
“The car was later towed away and traffic flow in the area has since returned to normal. Inquiries continue and any witnesses should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
Update 2.44pm: The vehicle has now been removed, with the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and other personnel working to remove the vehicle.

Drive safe people!! Hope driver is ok
Breath-o-lizer
Strange comment by Onion Juice considering you support the very Union and those that were against Ferry and Bus pilots / drivers being tested for alcohol after accidents that caused injury to passengers. But then again, we are all used to you being in a rush to post the first ignorant statement after each story. Get a life.
OMG. As soon as they repair one hole in the wall, there is another!
Another one it’s the wall. Everyone looked safe msybe shaken close call.
Maybe it’s time that Harbour Road got some TLC.
Better walls really need to be built.
Thing is, that section of Harbour Road is so unforgiving – for a public road it’s very narrow and any glitch, mistake or other, is going to end up in a dangerous situation. This one must have been quite harrowing for the driver and any passengers.
cars are too big these days for Bermuda roads.. too big and too fast!
I agree. When I first came to Bermuda in ’66, the max dimensions for private cars were 168″ long by 64″ wide (or 164″ long by 68″ wide, I forget which) and the max engine size allowed was either 2000cc or 95bhp, whichever came first. It’s now 175″ by 71 and 2500cc, but the roads haven’t been widened accordingly, and I’m afraid the driving standards haven’t improved either…..
Fair enough, but, if the road was that bad, everyone would be having accidents thereon. I’d blame the drivers rather than the roads…..
Not entirely fair on that bit of road. It is very slick in the rain, the asphalt well past it’s sell by date. Most drivers are not of race caliber so just needs a slight miscalculation for lost of control to happen. I watched a car on Harbor road spin 180 once in the rain, they were doing no more than 15 – 20 mph!
HOPE ALL ARE WELL. “ANOTHER ONE BITES THE WALL”. A strong wall is there, the car didn’t go over,,,,,, this time.
Lets get the House back in session.
We need to put this out to tender as soon as possible.
PWD will not have this finished in time for the AC.
Maybe the Trump campaign can help.
Tender it out to Mexico.
Happy weekend.
@$$#0£€
Look in the mirror.
That’s just the beginning. Watch when the rental cars go swimming. Lmao!!
I bet it was the nanny
Well with de slave wages she’s making for being soccer mom, maid, transporter, grocery shopper, etc, she’s even.
LMFAO
Looks like someone heading for Parliament. Thought she could get in that way! Ha
This harbor road has been dangerous since I was a child,I am 73 years old.It is more of a priority than getting a ,,,,,new Airport,,,,,It can be made safe with a little of imagination, and a lot of attention,,,however money is not going into the pockets of the elite,,,,and the whole operation can be done by Bermudian Workers and Bermudian Companies. All money can Benefit Bermuda Families,,,,,oops did I say something wrong???????I wonder if you would pepper spray me for this comment and protesting…..
Gary.
Have a rum.
Ya on to something.
Wasn’t this the same area not long ago where we was asked to be careful?
People where complaining of road surface being slippery.
Wonder what investigation took place then and what will come of this?
Ok Mr.W&E Engineer let’s see what your going to do to counter this.
I’ve been driving that road for 50 years night and day and never crashed through that wall. Attention saves lives!
I’d been going around the South Roundabout for 30 years incident free too until the morning I hit a huge oil slick .
That incident reset all my dials .
Who else had this as one of their biggest fears as a child
Sooner, most likey later, Bermuda will start installing proper steel crash barriers. All these wall repairs must be costing a fortune that we pay either in taxes or insurance premiums.
Oh Triangle do us a favor and keep drifting.
Seriously.
Stone is basically free.
Then we have to reinforce the ground where these “steel crash barriers” will be.
Stay where you are in the USA.
Shalom.
Ya stone is free, remember de stone on North Shore?
LMFAO
With the cedar from St Joe post office probably
Yeah, then you have all those free masons, the free helpers, the free truck driver watching & the free foreman watching. How good are those stone walls at repelling cars anyway?
I guess the wall jumped out at that car, funny thing these Bda stone walls! Everyday, people who have no business driving on Harbour Road do so much to the detriment of other road users, constantly crossing over the lines, stopping to turn corners. Glad no one appears to be hurt!
Oh well it’s work for works and engineering for about 8 weeks or so
Some people like to make jokes of everything ,only get serious when it affects them or a loved one, seriously….hmmmmmm,,,,,maybe St.Brendans needs to open back up ,,,,for them,,,,or is there enough room….
K…. who’s got the stats?
What time of day di these kinds of accidents happen on winding road (long ‘i’ plz) and profile of drivers.
Is it time to extend the East Broadway situation? One way in 7 – 9 and one way out 3 – 6??
Just asking, no one in particular cause the government offices are closed and government officers don’t read these comments.
It is a real blasted shame when I read the thread of comments. Here we have just witnessed what could have been a tragedy and all I can read are idiotic comments.
I wonder what everyone of you would be saying if it was your wife, child or close connection was at the wheel of that car….and went over in the perhaps 20-30 feet of water.
Yes, ALL of Bermuda’s roads need assessing and attention but next time use another forum for that. Out of the 30 comments, ONLY ONE person (Theresa T) showed concern for the driver and meanwhile idiots like Terry and Onion Juice can find it funny.
So sad Bermudians.
Just think, if a proper crash barrier was there the vehicle would have bounced off it & stayed on the road & not very nearly going into the harbour where there is a very good chance the driver could have drowned.
Yes Dray u yuked it out.
