Surprises & Delights At Fairmont Southampton
To get into the festive spirit, Fairmont Southampton has put together an impressive array of holiday surprises and delights, ranging from a giant gingerbread resort, dramatic decorations and their Christmas Trees of Hope charitable initiative.
Positioned in the main lobby of the hotel, a giant Fairmont Southampton Gingerbread Resort was lovingly created by the hotel’s pastry team. The creative team with experts from kitchen and engineering used about 100 pounds of icing sugar, 1,300 egg whites and 50 pounds of cookie dough, alongside ginger bread, wood, gum paste and food coloring, to build a replica of Bermuda’s largest resort.
The team devoted more than 352 hours to construction and Executive Pastry Chef Eric Fernandez led the team. The Gingerbread Resort features a lifelike miniature version of the hotel, and other resort areas such as Waterlot Inn, Turtle Hill Golf Club and a pink sugar coated beach at the Ocean Club. The gingerbread resort will be displayed throughout December.
While the Gingerbread Resort is the centerpiece of the holiday display, the hotel is resplendent with festive holiday décor, both inside and out.
From pink lights welcoming guests at the main entrance to twinkling lights and garland at the grand staircase to a variety of Christmas trees and wreathes of all shape and sizes. Those with a keen eye may also spot one of the Elves on the Shelf appearing throughout the resort this holiday season.
In this season of giving, Fairmont Southampton is supporting The Family Centre, with its Trees of Hope initiative. Twenty lavishly decorated Christmas Trees, sponsored by local businesses, have been installed in the lobby and will continue to be displayed until New Year’s Eve.
The initiative raised more than $20,000 to assist The Family Centre to help strengthen local families and support systems. While the trees are being displayed, guests have the opportunity to vote for their favorite tree.
For locals interested in enjoying a festive staycation and experiencing the resort’s winter wonderland, Fairmont Southampton offers a special room rate to Bermuda residents. Locals rates start at $179 per night per room, exclusive of tax and gratuity and based upon availability. Fairmont Southampton celebrates the season with its 12 Days of Christmas schedule of daily hotel guest activities, starting December 23, 2016.
From cookie making and children’s activities in Santa’s Workshop to wine tasting and gingerbread house competitions to jolly jaunts and nature walks to seasonal spa experiences to Christmas caroling and Santa’s grand arrival to family foot golf and night golf to gala New Year’s Eve celebrations, the resorts offers holiday cheer to appeal to every member of the family.
