Registration for the Bermuda Triple Challenge has opened, with the event set to be held from Friday, March 17 to Sunday, March 19.
A spokesperson said, “Participants will run, jump, climb and crawl their way through three unique obstacle course over three days in the name of charity to determine who’s the fittest for charity. In its sixth year, over $250,000 have been raised to date on behalf of youth based Bermudian charities.
“Organizers shared that they have seen strong initial registration, not only from Bermudian residents but also from visitors traveling to Bermuda to take part in the one of a kind Obstacle Course Racing [OCR] weekend.”
Race Co-Director Jason Correia said, “OCR is booming globally and the conditions are right to evolve this impactful local charity event into a global tourism event, adding more charitable dollars as well as heads in beds.
“We are expecting close to 50 international visitors this year, thanks to the support from our sponsors – Argus, Chubb, Sun Life Financial International and the Bermuda Tourism Authority.”
“This year’s supporting charities are SCARS, Knowledge Quest, The Reading Clinic, Raleigh, Windreach and the Somerset Primary PTA.
“The Bermuda Triple Challenge’s unique scoring system combines finishing times and charitable funds raised to incentive all participants to raise funds on behalf of the charities.”
Race Co-Director Dr. Reid Robinson said, “Winning the Bermuda Triple Challenge weekend does not mean you are the fastest or the strongest, but can complete the fun and challenging obstacle courses, as well as raise funds on behalf of our great charities.
“The more money raised, the better positioned you are to win overall. Each obstacle course is a creative, challenging and promotes healthy, functional movement, teamwork and comradery.”
“Individuals, and teams of 2, 3 or 4 will navigate the courses and obstacles ranging from scaling a Bermuda bus, the Royal Bermuda Regiment Assault Course and even a zip-line on their way to record a finishing time and earning challenge points.
“All obstacles are optional and participants can opt for an alternative exercise instead. The team with the most Challenge and Charity points wins the $1,000 Grand prize. $5,000 of prizes are available.
“The Bermuda Triple Challenge kicks off 7:00 pm Friday, March 17 with the Argus Urban Foot Race through the old town of St. George’s followed by a community block-party with DJ, and a bouncy castle for all to enjoy.
