- An all-girls U11 team, Axis Angels competing in the HIscox U11 League
- An all-girls U8 team, Little Angels, competing in the Tokio MR U8 league
- Support and promotion of the BSSF Primary Girls and Middle School girls leagues
- MVP presentations for all schools over the competition
- A pilot after-school program for girls hosted by Berkeley Institute
- On June 15 a Primary School All-Star and Middle School All-Star Game at National Stadium
BCB President, Lloyd Fray, said: “I am very excited that Axis Capital have continued the partnership with the BCB to help develop our girl’s cricket program after a very successful launch in 2016. We have many avid young girls in our academy and youth programs that will now have a stronger opportunity to shine and progress in our great sport.
“With the BCB cricket scholar Leilanni Nesbeth making great stride on and off the field at Bedes we hope many young ladies will strive to follow in her footsteps. I am especially encouraged by the involvement of cricket loving employees in Axis that are working with the BCB Girls Development Committee.”
Denise Hollis, Underwriting Assistant of Axis Capital, said: “Axis is very proud to be able to work with the BCB and BSSF to provide safe and fun opportunities for our girls to enjoy our national sport.
“The BCB has begun a pilot after-school program hosted by Berkeley that already has 30 girls regularly attending within the first 6 weeks. We are looking forward to the second annual Axis All-Star Day at National Stadium on June 15 that will feature the top players from all across the country.”

Congratulations to Axis and thanks for their continued support of girls’ cricket in Bermuda. Have had the pleasure of seeing some of these young ladies in action and their positive attitude and commitment sets an example for us all.
Hopefully this initiative will serve to spearhead the rebirth of women’s cricket as a whole and encourage more young women and girls to take up this (or other) sport.
