Video: Lusher Performs With Chance The Rapper

July 24, 2017

On July 5, NPR released an installment of their popular ‘Tiny Desk Concert’ series featuring Chance the Rapper.

Behind Chance, Bermudian Ben Lusher and his fellow ‘Thirdstory’ band members, Richard Saunders and Elliot Skinner, performed as background vocalists on the small stage in the middle of an NPR office.

The set featured a poem by Chance titled “The Other Side” sandwiched between an opening version of “Juke Jam” from Coloring Book and a moving cover of Stevie Wonder’s 1974 song “They Won’t Go When I Go.”

The New York-based band ‘Thirdstory,’ known for their soulful sound and impressive harmonies, also performed with Chance the Rapper on his recent Be Encouraged tour as his background vocalists.

The band formed in New York City in early 2014, and first found fame through their YouTube covers of Sam Smith, Taylor Swift, and Adele songs, collecting almost 10 million views overall. This internet fame soon reached Tori Kelly, who asked the band to open for her on her Unbreakable Tour in spring 2016.

However, the pivotal moment for the band was the release of their debut EP, ‘Searching’ in May 2016, produced by Malay [Frank Ocean, Zayn] and featuring their hit single ‘G Train.’

Their album is available on iTunes and Spotify. here
