CAC Bodybuilding Championships Cancelled
The CAC Bodybuilding Championships in Mexico City — which Bermuda was supposed to send a 13-person team to – have been cancelled “in light of the tragic circumstances in the region with the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria.”
The CAC Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation said, “The Executive of the Central American and Caribbean [CAC] region of bodybuilding would like to inform all national federations that the 45th edition of the CAC Bodybuilding Championships in Mexico city on Sept 29 to Oct 2, 2017 has been cancelled until further notice.
“The decision was reached after consultation with the President of the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness [IFBB], the CACBBFF executive council with input from the Mexican organizing committee.
“The decision was reached in light of the tragic circumstances in the region with the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria as well as concerns for the safety of all persons attending and participating at the championships is our major priority.
“The CACBBFF continues to have in its thoughts and prayers the various countries within the Caribbean and Mexico who continue to be affected by the unfortunate natural disasters and weather and wish them continued strength in rebuilding their lives and communities.”
Not denying that other partipants would be coming from the islands devastates by the hurricanes, Mexico City was ravaged by a 7.1m earthquake, not Irma or Maria.
