Police: Photo Of Guns & Ammo Not In Bermuda

September 15, 2017

The police said they are “aware of a photo circulating on social media that shows an engine block containing a quantity of guns and ammunition,” saying that while it was “suggested that this contraband was discovered in Bermuda,” the photo is actually from Barbados.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a photo circulating on social media that shows an engine block containing a quantity of guns and ammunition.

“Apparently it has been suggested that this contraband was discovered in Bermuda.

“However, an online image search indicates that the photo is actually from Barbados, after authorities there reportedly seized the items at a Barbados port.

“Members of the public are reminded that anyone with information regarding the location of illegal firearms or ammunition locally can contact the Serious Crime Unit in confidence on 247-1739 or the independent and anonymous Miami-based Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.”

Apparently a similar issue occurred in Jamaica, with Jamaican media reporting yesterday that the Jamaican police also refuted suggestions that the same photos circulating on social media showed items seized in Kingston, with the Jamaican media also noting the photos originated in Barbados.
