Harness Pony Racing Season Gets Underway
The 2017/18 Bermuda Harness Pony Racing season officially got underway at the National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street.
Following a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and a blessing of their resurfaced track, drivers and ponies got a chance to race for the first time.
Christian Truran in the bike of Itsallaboutme won the 1:04&4 & Faster Time Bar Class clocking a time of 1:07&2, while Andy Stoneham and Custard The Dragon was second in 1:08 and Colin Mello in the bike of Pocket De Gold finished third in 1:09&2.
The 1:06&1 to 1:07&1 Time Bar Class saw Inwood’s Generation with Casey Truran in the bike take the line honors clocking a time of 1:09&4, A Touch of Red with Ryan Manders finished second clocking 1:10&2 and with a time of 1:13 flat saw Park Ranger with Edward Roque in the bike finish third.
Jorde Smith in the bike of Kool The Fire won the 1:13&1 & Slower Time Bar Class with a time of 1:23, Inwood’s Realist with Nick DeCosta finished second with a time of 1:23&4, in third place was Thisbabyrocks with Christian Truran finishing with a time of 1:24&1 and finishing fourth was Ryan Burrows in the bike of Shady Maple clocking 1:26&1.
