Minister Lovitta Foggo Visits New Mail Facility
Yesterday [Oct. 26], the Minister of Cabinet Office with Responsibility for Government Reform Lovitta Foggo toured the new site of the Bermuda Post Office Mail Processing Centre [BMPC].
Minister Lovitta Foggo, Acting Post Master General, Dr. Eugenie M. Simmons, Manager of Mail Processing Sam Brangman, and Customs staff at the BMPC.
The Ministry said, “The public will be aware that the BMPC has vacated its publically owned premises at the L.F. Wade International Airport and relocated to the New Venture Building, Mills Creek, Pembroke. The BMPC formally moved to the new site earlier this week.
“During the visit, Minister Foggo was provided with an overview of the BMPC operations and discussed with senior staff the logistics surrounding the significant move.”
Minister Foggo said, “It was important to visit the new site of the Bermuda Post Office Mail Processing Centre to demonstrate my support for the BPO team.
“They worked to meet some incredibly tight deadlines to ensure that the move was a success, and I want to commend their dedication and commitment to seeing the process through.”
This is what the full time salary buys us. Photo ops.
Yup, the only time you see Lovitta in my area is when it is time for PHOTO OPS and probably won’t see her again outside of them in another 4 yrs.
She is simply attempting to justify the unnecessary Cabinet post she holds.
Question should be asked is which Friends and Family does de building belong too.
Mmmmmmm
Those the new promoted Customs people?
My bank posted my Statement 18th October.
It arrived yesterday – 26th October.
Something isn’t working.
Same for everyone smh…
Dont worry, i stay in the east end, and we get mail once a week if we are lucky!
I have stopped all bills and important letters from being posted. E-mail is a wonderful invention!!
Correct! Mail is a dying business and government should look at winding down this loosing operation.
We get phone calls from the local post office telling us to pick mail up because they won’t deliver it. And then when you get it, it took months to get here.
There are two reasons the post office still operates. 1. International obligations and 2. The Government is terrified of closing it down (or privatising) because the BIU will shut the Island down again.
If this were a private business it would go the way of Triminghams.
” If this were a private business it would go the way of Triminghams.”
If you only knew what happened to Triminghams ! we got a Bank on from a Clothing store.
For a bank to survive its customers need to survive also .
Bluntly ! meaning if we go down they go down, to take is one step further, if we don’t make a living neither can they, We work for it , they put it in a tin a burry it in a garden.
So what do they do ?” Call in the mortgage”.
Is that the same as drowning all your rabbits and chickens.
May be it was the recession that flushed many of our business down the toilet, but you can not blame the recession for every thing, we have had recessions before back then and got through it. We hab sandy beaches and sunshine, all we need do is keep Bermuda beautiful .
They did not call in the mortgage back then ,the bank went into partnership with its customers .
Is it not what it is all about.
I guess that Triminghams and the Bank of Bermuda limited did not do so good.
All this makes me wonder if Bermuda is going on the chopping block .
The Government can not do every thing alone neither can the Banks there is a slim chance that we as a country will survive if the banks were to partner with all the people on the hill.
Government over seas loans , “The Bermuda National Bond ” BNB. why don’t they pay us what they pay them ?
Or !
The right honorable Mr. Burt JP MP may be you should go have a talk with the banks before you fly around the planet.
It is all about partnership young man, it takes a village.
Different facility, they didn’t say nothing about different service. That still the same.
Probably had a nice big lunch on taxpayers afterward!
No lunch but the wasted money is bad enough.
What does this even mean ” Minister of Cabinet Office with Responsibility for Government Reform”?
Moving a warehouse is not reform. The PLP need to do better.
It means she attends photo ops.
So was this a good move or a bad one??? is the facilities what is need or not? Is it worth the rent we are paying??
Who puts a warehouse on the 3rd floor? SMH
Snail mail and the huge and expensive infrastructure, another wast of our tax dollars
