Southside Criterium Road Race Traffic Advisory

The Bermuda Bicycle Association will be holding a Criterium race on Sunday morning [Oct 8] on Southside Roads in St. David’s, and it is “proposed to close the roads during this race but allow access for emergency vehicles and business owners.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works is advising motorists that the Bermuda Bicycle Association will be holding a Criterium race on Sunday 8th October 2017 between the hours of 8.00 am and 11.45 am at Southside Roads, St. David’s.

“The Bicycle race route is as follows:

  • Start on Southside Road heading east until the reaching the roundabout at the junction of Pepper Hall Road, taking a left turn and continuing north, a left turn onto Tommy Fox Road and then another left back onto Southside Road until reaching race start & finish line.

“On the race route only, between the hours of 8.00 am and 11.45 am the speed limit will be raised to 75km/hr to accommodate the speeds of the cyclists.

“It is proposed to close the roads during this race but allow access for emergency vehicles and business owners under the direction of Police, Race officials’ and Marshals. Motorists are advised to use caution and to give priority to cyclists. Motorists are also advised to follow directions given by the Police and Race Officials.

“There will be parking restrictions in place during the bicycle race, and motorists are permitted to park in designated parking bays along the race route. Motorists are requested to show consideration for the participants by not impeding them or blocking the race route.

“The Ministry of Public Works takes this opportunity to thank the public for their cooperation.”
