“Coping With Grief During The Holidays”
At this time of year many people have pleasant thoughts and have a joyful frame of mind, however, next month can also be traumatic for some who have lost loved ones during the past 12 months.
With that in view, the Kiwanis Club of St George’s will hold its annual “Coping with Grief During the Holidays” function on Thursday evening. It is sponsored in association with the Alpha Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
The evening gets underway at 6.30 pm and will be held at the Ebenezer Methodist Church on York Street in St Georges. There is no admission, and the event is non-denominational.
This will mark the 10th year that Kiwanis St George has held the “Coping With Grief” evening, and the program will be conducted by Doreen Williams-James, Director of the Alpha Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, and also a member of Kiwanis St George.
Those attending are encouraged to bring a photo of their lost loved one[s] if they wish to do so. Ms Williams-James gives practical advice on how one can cope with grief, a feeling that is often exacerbated at this particular time of year.
A spokesperson for Kiwanis St George explained that the evening is open to all.
