BIFF Industry Film Social Set For This Evening
The Bermuda International Film Festival is holding an industry Film Social at Bungalow 56 on Reid Street on Thursday 28th December from 6pm-8pm.
“It is a great opportunity for students studying film both in Bermuda and abroad and for those in the industry here to get together. The event is free and those who wish to attend can RSVP to info@BIFF.bm,” a spokesperson said.
“BIFF would like to remind filmmakers that the deadline for submission to both the BIFF 2018 BerMovie Day and to the Bermuda Shorts International Competition is fast approaching. The deadline for both is 1st January 2018. BIFF 2018 will take place from March 17th to the 25th at the Earl Cameron Theatre in the City Hall Arts Centre, Hamilton Bermuda.
“The winning film from the Bermuda Shorts Competition is automatically submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Science® for judging as part of their Short Film – Live Action Oscar.
“Filmmakers from all over the world submit their short films to the Bermuda International Film Festival Bermuda Shorts Competition. BIFF is both proud and excited to share with the public that the winning BIFF Short Film Watu Wote which is a strong contender to win Oscar recognition at 2018 Awards in early March.
“In the 15 years of being Oscar qualifying, BIFF has had two of its submissions win the Short Film – Live Action Oscar. Submissions for the Bermuda Short Film Competition can be uploaded to FilmFreeway with a current fee of $65. The link to submit films is Filmfreeway.com/BermudaInternationalFilmFestival. BIFF has arranged that Bermudian filmmakers can submit for free!
“Criteria for submitting films for the Bermuda Shorts Competition include they must have been completed after January 1st, 2017, be 40 minutes or less, and not have been released theatrically or shown on television prior to the Festival or that the film have been publicly available online on Youtube or Vimeo [excludes password protected posts].
“For the BerMovie submission the criteria is less strict. The film could have been made in previous years and can be longer than 40 minutes. BerMovie Day will take place on 18th March 2018. Submissions for BerMovie Day should be made directly to programming@biff.bm or to the BIFF offices between 10am-4pm Monday-Fridays in the Somers Building at 15 Front Street.”
