Three Bermuda Athletes Meet Carifta Standard

Three Bermuda track and field athletes met the Carifta Standard during the Bermuda vs. Canada Track meet at the National Sports Center.

The first was Ashley Irby who clocked a 1500m winning time of 4:56.01; Sakari Famous will make yet another trip to the Carifta Championships when she met the Women’s High Jump mark on her way to a winning leap of 1.70m, and with a leap of 1.95m, Elisha Darrell booked a ticket in the High Jump.

    Interesting that they competed in 300m, guess that’s more of prep work for the more established distances (200m guys test endurance, 400m guys test speed). Wonder if Bermuda has an official national record for that particular distance.

    Good question…excellent…what is our best?….We should set our own best times hights ,standards then Excel our own….then compete.Could well be the cure for complacency.

    Canadian University track and field is solely indoors so those (60m and 300m) are indoor distances.
