Swimming: Best Of The Best Series 2 Results

The second Best of the Best Swim meet took place at the BASA Pool.

In the first event of the day, the 100m Freestyle, Matias Drew of Dolphins won the Boy’s 10 & Under race in a time of 1:27.08, Bert Stevenson of Harbour finished second clocking 1:32.74 and Luke Horan from Sharks was third in 1:34.08.

Daniel Kunst won the Boy’s 11-12 Age Group race in the 100m Freestyle touching the wall in a time of 1:10.45, he would finish ahead of birthday boys Flynn and Harlan Watson-Brown in times of 1:12.52 and 1:14.05 respectively, all three representing Sharks.

Sam Williamson won the 100m Freestyle Boy’s 13-14 Age Group race in a Personal Best time of 56.27, Brian Desmond was second in 58.38 and Caleb Ingham finished third with a time of 1:00.05.

The 100m Freestyle Boy’s 15 & Over race saw Josh Thorne finish first and Lewis Sweeney second.

The 100m Freestyle Girls 10 & Under race was won by Imojen Judd from Sharks clocking a time of 1:12.49, with Marleigh Howes, also of Sharks, second in 1:15.01 and Flora Betts of Harbour third in 1:27.23.

Not to be outdone by her sister, Jaedyn Judd won the 100m Freestyle Girls 11-12 Age Group touching the wall in a time of 1:07.85 with Giada Dudley-Pun second in 1:09.32 and Josephine Duerden third in 1:12.03.

Gabriella Pitman won the 100m Freestyle Girls 13-14 Age Group and Skyler Powell won the 100m Freestyle Girls 15 & Over category.

Other highlights of the day were Brian Desmond recording a Personal Best time of 4:17.99 in the 400m Freestyle as he neared Jesse Washington’s record time and Sam Williamson swimming 1:03.79 in the 100m IM, which was less than half a second outside record time.

Zebedee Wakely continued his return to competition following major surgery in December winning the 15 & over 50m Freestyle in 27.13 just out touching Nick Patterson who swam 27.15.

Elsewhere in the 50m Freestyle Juliette Smatt swam a huge 8 second Personal Best to win the Girls 10 & Under in 37.86 ahead of Dana Hawitt and Flora Betts who also improved their times significantly. Caitlin Coleman won the 11-12 Age Group in a Personal Best time of 34.51 and Jayson Outerbridge was first in the Boys 13-14 Age Group in 33.11.

In the last swim of the day Daria Desmond went agonizingly close to qualifying for the April Mallard’s Meet just missing the mark of 1:28.89 in the 100m Breaststroke as she swam 1:29.61 in a solo Time Trial.
