Audio: Parliamentary Questions On ATV Proposal
Out of some 400 responses to the consultation for the proposed ATV tours in the west end, two people responded in favour, Public Works Minister Lt/Col David Burch said.
The Minister’s statement came in response to Parliamentary Questions from OBA MP Sylvan Richards in the House of Assembly, and you can listen to the exchange below.
Not necessarily related, but it was interesting to hear the exchange.
Is there a way Joe Public can attend these sessions to gain a better understanding of the political process?
Any other resources to learn more on Bermuda politics?
Both the House of Assembly and the Senate are open to the public, and both livestream audio on their website. I also believe it’s livestreamed on a radio station.
There’s also transcripts of sessions (at least the House) available on the website (Hansard), although there’s usually a week or two delay in their availability.
Simply go to the Houses of Parliament when its in session. They have a public gallery you can sit in and listen.
Otherwise you can listen to the debates on-line.

The Hansard is the official published verbatim report of the proceedings of the Legislature.
Yes, but anyone who lives east of White Hill does not count!
Meaning the Minister does not count!!
Good catch Joe.
Transparency my A$$
I do not believe that, after the fact, the Minister can restrict the objections/comments submitted in response to the November 2017 public consultation. The railway trails and national parks are paid for by all taxpayers and are accessible to all, despite where one resides on the island.
Bewteen the Mr. Speaker, Honorable Minister and Honorable House, I could throw up. They sound like a bunch of wound up robots.
It is sickening isn’t it ? Listening to house debates is worse than having teeth pulled .
If you took those 3 phrases out of any given speech it would be no more than 2 minutes long .
Well on a good note. The trails will all stay clean
Bermuda the country of No… followed by surprise when there isn’t any economic activity on the island. Shameful!
Young, and older, people want the thrill of an ATV trail. Agree and in most countries they have space. Bermuda doesn’t and young people in particular will not be excited by a 10mph speed limit. More fun riding a horse. Imagine jet skis being limited to 10mph. This scheme is dead from the start, but maybe let it go and it will die its own natural death.
“people want the thrill of an ATV trail” At 10mph, if you can believe that one, when does the thrill start. I did an ATV tour near Bryce Canyon, UT. We went one heckuva lot faster than 10mph. Fun? Yes, but one of those things, like jet skis, you get tired of very quickly.
This island is gonna be one big retirement home. We are never going to expand we are just gonna be a boring vacation destination. Because of boring narrow minded selfish people with not in my back yard attitudes. Entrepreneurship in this island is very limited, not everyone wants to cut grass and paint roofs as a business. I give up on this country! SMH!
