All Govt Offices & Public Schools Open Today
Following last night’s inclement weather, the Minister of National Security Wayne Caines confirmed that all Government offices and public schools will be open today, and thanked the uniformed services and BELCO crews for their work.
“Minister Caines confirmed this morning that all Government offices and public schools will be open today,” a Government spokesperson said.
“Also, as is the normal process, the Ministry of Public Works personnel will assess any post storm related damage and conduct any needed repairs.
“The Minister notes that throughout last night’s storm, the Causeway was monitored closely, with hourly checks being conducted.
“And Minister Caines took the opportunity to thank the various uniformed services who were on duty last evening safeguarding the community during the severe weather.
The Minister also thanked BELCO crews who worked throughout the night and who continue to work this morning to restore electricity.
“As a final safety note, Minister Caines continues to urge caution as residents move about the Island this morning. In particular, motorists and cyclists should take extra care while travelling on our roads.
“The Bermuda Weather Service indicates that the Storm Watch has ended and that the unsettled conditions are expected to gradually improve as the day progresses. To get the latest weather updates, the public should visit www.weather.bm.”
PLP are unpopular this morning. A day off today would have been a lock with previous PLP regimes.
But still no ferries running.
