To mark his life of exceptional journalistic service, the Government’s Department of Communications will suspend all media activity today as a mark of respect for the late Ira Philip, who is being laid to rest today.

Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt said, “I deeply regret that I cannot attend the home-going service for Mr. Ira Philip and I have expressed sincerest condolences to his family on behalf of my wife Kristin and I.

“To mark his life of exceptional journalistic service to the people of Bermuda, I have instructed the Government’s Department of Communications to suspend all media activity in honour of, and out of respect for the celebration of Mr. Philip’s life.

“The Government will not hold interviews or press conferences, nor will any press statements be released on a day when the only news worth broadcasting will be happening live in the Cathedral.
