Bailey’s Bay, St. David’s Cricket Club, St. George’s Cricket Club, Somerset Bridge, and Warwick Workman’s Club all recorded victories in this weekend’s Premier and First Division cricket action.
Premier Division
Bailey’s Bay Win By 93 runs: Bailey’s Bay 157 Western Stars 64
Western Stars won the toss and elected to send Bailey’s Bay to bat at the Sea Breeze Oval, Bailey’s Bay were bowled out for 157, Rodney Trott was the top scorer with 62, Coolie Durham added 21, Phillip Thomas was the pick of the Western Stars bowlers with figures of 7-1-24-4.
In reply Western Stars were bowled out for 64, Rohan Davis and Seth Campbell both scored 12, while Dante Wellman added 11 as the only other batsman in double figures, Kearon Trott was the pick of the Bailey’s Bay bowlers with figures of 8-2-9-7, while Zenawi Bowen bowled 6-0-31-3.
St. David’s Cricket Club Win by 2 Wickets: Southampton Rangers 118 St. David’s Cricket Club 119/8
The St. David’s Cricket Club started the 50 Overs Premier Division as the defending Champions against what many suggested their biggest rivals for the 2018 season in the Southampton Rangers at Lord’s with the home team picking up a 2 wicket victory.
Batting first the Southampton Rangers were bowled out for 118, Ricardo Brangman was the top scorer with 52, Tre Manders was the only other batsman in double figures scoring 37, Delyone Borden was the pick of the St. David’s Cricket Club bowlers with figures of 6-1-15-4.
In reply St. David’s Cricket Club struggled but made it through with Ajun Lambe the top scorer with 24, but it was a 18 run 9th wicket partnership between Kevin Hurdle and Justin Pitcher that did the trick. Dion Stovell was the pick of the Southampton Rangers bowlers with figures of 7-2-28-4.
St. George’s Cricket Club Win by 47 Runs: St. George’s Cricket Club 332/6 Somerset Cricket Club 285
At the Somerset Cricket Club, visiting St. George’s Cricket Club batted first and scored 320/6 after 50 overs they were awarded 12 penalty runs taking their total to 332, Mishael Paynter was the top scorer with 155, he hit 20 fours and 3 sixes in his 147 ball inning, he shared a 139 opening run partnership with Treadwell Gibbons who scored 71. Greg Maybury was the pick of the Somerset Cricket Club bowlers with figures of 10-1-50-3.
In reply Maybury would open the inning and score 134off 133 deliveries hitting 13 fours and 2 sixes, but the Somerset Cricket Club would fall short if their target, with captain Jordan DeSilva adding 61. Macai Simmons was the pick of the St. George’s Cricket Club bowlers with figures of 10-0-55-3.
First Division
Somerset Bridge Win by 4 Wickets: PHC 209 Somerset Bridge 210/6
PHC won the toss and elected to bat at the PHC Stadium against visiting Somerset Bridge. PHC were bowled out for 209, Dinesh Hanuman was the top scorer with 56, while Torleair Caines was the pick of the Somerset bridge bowlers returning figures of 10-1-32-3.
In reply the Somerset Bridge would score 210/6, Sharye Tavares was the top scorer with 39, while Darren Anglin was the pick of the PHC bowlers with figures of 10-2-41-2.
Warwick Workman’s Club Win by 7 Wickets: Willow Cuts 100 Warwick Workman’s Club 103/3
Willow Cuts batted first at the Southampton Oval and were bowled out for 100, Kamal Bashir was the top scorer with 23, Kian Butterfield was the pick of the Warwick Workmen’s bowlers with figures of 6.1-2-11-4.
In reply Warwick Workmen’s would score 103/3 with Akeem Ible the top scorer with 53, Bashir was the pick of the Willow Cuts bowlers with figures of 9-1-23-1.
Jones a disgrace in cricket. Goes out first ball, hates the umpires decision, storms to the shed, then leaves the ground. Childish once again from him. Hope the Rangers board take strong action. My punishment would be Jones banned for rest of season.
