YAO Baseball League: Nationals & Cubs Win

The Nationals defeated the Orioles in YAO Baseball Babe Ruth action 10 – 5.

The Nationals got things moving in the first inning, an error resulted in one run for the Nationals in the first. It was the 3rd inning that saw the Nationals pull away for good with five runs, led by Liam McCue who doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, an error scoring a 3rd and Cam Morris singled driving in another run.

McCue was also on the pitcher’s mound for the Nationals, allowing five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out seven.

Jackson Spurling led the Orioles on the pitcher’s mound, lasting four innings, allowing five hits and ten runs while striking out three. Spurling also led the Orioles with three hits.

In the other Babe Ruth Division match saw the Cubs defeat the Yankees 15 – 6.

The Yankees came out hitting early in the game scoring 5 runs in the first, chasing Macaiah Furbert from the mound, Nic Martin had 3 RBI’s in the first, Jordan Etamadi also added a run.

Sam Resnik came in to relieve Furbert, pitching 5 strong innings, striking out 13, walking one and no runs. Martin led the Yankees with 3 strong innings, striking out 8 and walking 3.

The Cubs chipped away at the Yankee lead, scoring 7 in the top of the 5th to put the game away. Cubs were led by Furbert at the plate and Dariyon Davis combining for 6 RBI’s, Resnik contributed with 3 RBI’s of his own. Jaden Malpas had a key toss out on a steal of third and played strong behind the plate.
