Jared Dylan Starts ‘Live Plus’ Business
An island business is offering vegan food alternatives, with 27-year-old Bermudian Jared Dylan starting Live Plus.
Mr. Dylan told Bernews, “Live Plus was an idea I came up with in college. It became a back burner concept, until I thought of different ways to tackle this idea and make it a reality. I always was thinking of ways to start a business at home as I always wanted to figure out a way to come back home and be successful.
“I started this business so that my family might never have to be forced to uproot our island again. My goal is to build something for Bermuda as a whole, and benefit Bermuda in whatever positive ways I can. Giving back to my community is the most important concept for me.
“The most exciting aspect of running a business is the love and support I feel from our community. There is no better feeling than that.”
Asked about the most challenging aspects of running the business so far, he said, “There are so many to even list, but the amount of work a starting business owner has to do is without question, but the work isn’t the hardest aspect. For me, the hardest part is learning the business aspect of things as I grow and go.
In describing the actual product, he said, “I have a product called Veggemo. Its a milk-like product made from three non-GMO veggies. Those veggies are peas, cassava/tapioca, and potato.
“Being a vegetable based-milk, it means a couple things: it’s gluten free/soy free/cholesterol free/nut products free/dairy free/non-GMO/vegan and kosher. This makes Veggemo unique, as it can bypass most food allergies for people who are soy/nuts/dairy intolerant.”
“My hope is to grow into a more established and viable business. I would love to be able to employ some Bermudians, but as it is right now, I’m a one man army,” he added.
“I would like to encourage everyone to like and support our Facebook and Instagram pages. Our Facebook can be found at Live Plus Bermuda, and our Instagram account is just Live Plus.”
People can find Veggemo at a few locations if interested, including Lindos [both/all locations], Arnolds Market [three locations: Front Street, St Johns Road, Maximart], MarketPlace [three locations: Church Street, Shelly Bay, Heron Bay], Miles Market, Down to Earth, Harrington Hundreds, Churchills, and Garden Market.
