Cup Match Holiday Parks & Beaches Advisory

The Parks Department issued an advisory for those who plan on camping or picnicking in public parks and beaches over the Cup Match holiday, and also provided specific information pertaining to Horseshoe Bay Beach.

A spokesperson said, “The Department of Parks shared the following reminders for those who plan on camping or picnicking in the public parks and beaches over the Cup Match holiday.

“The public should note:

  • Campers will be allowed to camp from Tuesday 31st July 2018 through Sunday 5th August.
  • Following any beaching or camping activity, all equipment and property must be removed by Monday 6th August. Any personal items left after that date will be disposed of.
  • Patrons will be given the opportunity to set up their camping sites on the parks and beaches until 9.30 pm on Wednesday 1st August, after which time, the park gates will be closed.
  • Park Rangers will be patrolling all the parks and beaches and the Lifeguard Service will be on duty from 10.00 am – 6.00 pm daily at Horseshoe Bay, Clearwater Beach & Turtle Bay.
  • Traffic control will be in place at Horseshoe Bay, Elbow Beach Tribe Road, and Clearwater Beach & Turtle Bay.

Specific guidelines for Horseshoe Bay

“Due to the popularity of Horseshoe Bay on Emancipation Day Thursday 2nd August, the beach will be managed as follows:

  • There will be traffic flow and parking guidance for patrons visiting Horseshoe Bay.
  • Department of Parks staff, the Bermuda Police Service, the St. John Ambulance Brigade and Traffic Officers from the Transport Control Department will be on duty.
  • On August 2nd, patrons are advised that Horseshoe Bay will close at 7.00pm so that Parks staff can clean the beach in preparation for the next day [August 3].

“The Department of Parks would like to thank the public in advance for their cooperation and takes this opportunity to wish all park and beach patrons a safe and enjoyable Cup Match holiday.”

    All campers and beach goers should be reminded that littering is an offense.

      Just take a look at the roadsides , hedges and railway trails island wide . A reminder will fall on deaf ears .
      A common retort when calling a pig of a litterer out for their appalling behavior .. “It gives someone a job” (picking up their trash)

    Everyone makes such a tremendous effort to prepare for such an exciting holiday. Please put the same effort into cleaning up after yourselves and leaving the parks as you found them.
