Police Appeal For Witnesses To Airport Incident
Police are investigating an incident in which a 37-year-old Jamaican national “unlawfully exited” the airport, saying it is “alleged that the male ran east along the Airport main road and onto the Causeway,” and have asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please contact them.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service is conducting an investigation into a 37-year-old Jamaican national, who unlawfully exited the Arrivals Hall whilst being examined by HM Customs staff at the LF Wade International Airport around 1:08 p.m. on Tuesday 10th July, 2018. It is alleged that the male ran east along the Airport main road and onto the Causeway in St. Georges.
“The police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to contact Detective Sergeant David Bhagwan on 717-2042, alternatively on e-mail; dbhagwan@bps.bm or on the Crime Stoppers confidential hotline 800-8477.”
A statement from the police on July 11th said a man was arrested after he “fled on foot from the local Customs area for arriving passengers inside the airport,” and he remains in police custody “on suspicion of drug importation.”
?
I just witnessed another report relating to incompetency among Airport Security.
I definitely saw a woman walk right past the customs and immigration officers without being stopped. So strange.
“East along the Airport main road” would be toward the dump … the causeway is West of the airport
baffled??? how do exit the airport and head to the causeway, but you go east?? wouldn’t that be going west???
Well, presumably they could start with the Customs and Immigration staff who were there but either unwilling or unable to give chase to the suspect.
“Oh lorda mercy pon mi soul! It be de WRONG island, mon! Where dis plane ah drop me to?”
And none of those athletic-looking security guards thought about running after him? Or call the police?
