BermyCards To Host 2nd Annual Card Show
BermyCards will host its second annual Bermuda Card Show on Saturday, November 21, from 10.00am to 4.00pm at Washington Mall, with card vendors gathering for the event during Pokémon’s 30th anniversary year.
A spokesperson said, “Trading card collecting continues to grow around the world, and Bermuda is very much part of that excitement. As Pokémon celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026, BermyCards will present the 2nd Annual Bermuda Card Show on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Washington Mall, 3rd Level, Level B, Wall of Words, just inside the Church Street entrance.
“The event follows the success of the inaugural BermyCards show, which was held earlier this year at Warwick Academy, and promises to be even bigger and better, with all of Bermuda’s leading card vendors coming together under one roof.
“Collectors, families and hobby enthusiasts can expect a wide selection of single cards, graded cards, sealed products, mystery packs and other collectibles, along with raffles and giveaways. With the event taking place just over a month before Christmas, organisers believe it will also offer families an excellent opportunity to pick up unique and exciting early Christmas gifts.
“For Mark Smith, founder of BermyCards, the event is also a family story. Smith said one of the inspirations behind launching the first show came from his daughter, Myla Smith, a student at Warwick Academy, who encouraged him to create a Pokémon show and suggested holding the first one at her school. Myla was also actively involved in the inaugural event, helping at the main table, interacting with young collectors and handing out giveaways to children.”
Local collector and former card-shop owner Jeff Sousa, who is helping to promote the November show, said that father-and-daughter connection is one of the most special aspects of the event.
He said, “It was wonderful to see. Myla wasn’t just standing on the sidelines — she was right there helping her dad and interacting with the younger collectors. It reminded me very much of my own daughter when she was around that age. That father-and-daughter connection is exactly what makes this hobby so special.”
Jeff Sousa said Pokémon’s lasting appeal comes from the way it brings generations together. “You can have a child sitting beside a parent or grandparent, opening a pack, looking for their favourite Pokémon and sharing that excitement together. It doesn’t matter whether the card is worth a dollar or considerably more — sometimes the real value is the memory you create together.”
For Sousa, the event also carries a personal connection, as it brings the collecting hobby back to a familiar setting in Hamilton. More than two decades ago, he operated Upper Deck Sports Cards and Collectibles in Washington Mall, during a time when sports cards were especially popular in Bermuda and Pokémon was just beginning to emerge.”
“Back then, we could see Pokémon starting to grow, but I don’t think any of us could have imagined what it would eventually become,” Jeff Sousa said. “Now, all these years later, it is exciting to see another generation of Bermudians embracing the hobby.”
He added that the hobby is about much more than the value of cards. “Not every card becomes valuable, and that should not be the main reason a child starts collecting. The fun is in the hunt, the artwork, the characters, the friendships and the memories.”
A spokesperson added, “The November 21 event comes at a particularly exciting time for collectors, as Pokémon’s 30th anniversary is being celebrated worldwide throughout 2026, adding even more enthusiasm to an already booming hobby. For Bermuda’s growing collecting community, the BermyCards show aims to bring that global excitement home.”
“This is about building the collecting community in Bermuda,” Sousa said. “Whether you have been collecting for years, have only just started, or you’re a parent or grandparent who doesn’t know a Pikachu from a Charizard yet, come along and have a look. That’s the fun of it.”

I’m excited for the 2nd card show! I hope that there is plenty of 30th Anniversary unopened stock that we can buy. It’s been really hard to get here in Bermuda for us casual collectors that aren’t operating a business.
