Garnier, Maybelline & Allure Feature Aliana King

August 25, 2018

Bermudian model Aliana King has been featured recently for a number of brands, including Garnier, Maybelline, and Allure.

Her appearances included a TV commercial for Garnier, broadcast across the US and Europe, a stint as a model for makeup brand Maybelline with the ad appearing in Vogue, and an article in Allure titled “11 Curl-Washing Tips From Real Women With Kinky-Curly Hair.”

Despite being signed to her first agency, MP Mega Miami, a little over a year ago, Bermudian model has already achieved incredible success.

Before breaking into the international modelling scene, Ms. King modelled for two years in Bermuda, taking part in the Bermuda Fashion Festival and featuring on the festival’s ad for the hair and beauty show.

Ms. King told Bernews, “It was through that show that I started doing more shoots and making contacts.”

She went on to work with Shiona Turini in a shoot for Nylon Magazine and Thomas Lavone for London Life magazine.

Her agent, Leah Hibbert, then found the model on Instagram and expressed her interest in working with her.

“I was so lucky to find such an amazing manager as her,” Ms. King said. “She played such a huge part in my success.”

The Maybelline ad featuring Ms King appeared in the September issue of Vogue magazine, and Maybelline is obviously a brand with good taste, as Ms King is the second Bermudian model they have featured recently, with the makeup brand having also featured Bermudian model Lily Lightbourne.

3 years ago… before I was signed or even thought I could be a model I was doing my first job ever with @bdafashionfest Someone (who I hold very close to my heart) during that shoot told me I had the face for Maybelline. The name stuck and they all called me Maybelline during the whole production. THAT WAS THREE YEARS AGO!! At the time I was flattered but in no way saw the potential of modeling for such a big company… but it stayed in my mind and I wondered how amazing it would be to ACTUALLY be a Maybelline model. Little did I know that years later I would not only model for @maybelline but it would also be in the September issue of @voguemagazine US. I just want to say a big thankyou first of all to the team of this shoot by @benhassett it was so much fun to work with you. But I also really want to thank @londonmodelscout (she’s my other mom) Thankyou so much for believing in me when so many others didn’t. We all knew this was as tall as I was gonna get and yet I still have such amazing agencies and supporters there pushing me. Thankyou God for my blessings. Maybe it’s a dream #Maybeitsalianaking #Maybelline #maybellinenewyork

Hopefully the industry doesnt treat her badly, which is commonplace across the board.
