Bermuda Champion Taekwondo Team Departs
The Champion Taekwondo team departed yesterday [Sept 26] for the 2018 Michigan Cup Taekwondo tournament, with a number of local athletes set to take part in the event.
Edmond Johnson told Bernews, “My team and I departed yesterday for the 2018 Michigan Cup Taekwondo Tournament. The tournament consists of fighting forms and breaking the breaking of stone and wood, and the fighting is in an Olympic style form.
“This annual event gives our local athletes much needed experience and exposure, and the student age ranges are from 11 to 19 years of age,” said Mr Johnson, who is traveling with the team along with Umar Durrant.
The Champion Academy of Martial Arts was established in 2002, and has seen over 400 students go through its doors. They are located on Parliament Street and more information can be found on their website www.bermytkd.com.
