Premier Burt Meets With Royal Caribbean CEO
Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt met with Royal Caribbean CEO Richard Fain to “discuss the company’s ties with Bermuda.”
Royal Caribbean cruise ships make dozens of calls to Bermuda each year, with the Anthem of the Seas and Grandeur of the Seas regular callers to the island all season, while some of Royal Caribbean’s other ships make occasional calls.

Premier Burt tweeted the photo below, saying: “With its longstanding association with Bermuda, I sat down with Royal Caribbean CEO Richard Fain this afternoon to discuss the company’s ties with Bermuda. We examined future opportunities that will strengthen our relationship and help to enhance Bermuda’s tourism product.”

Bigger cruise ship next then, obviously. Perhaps blasting Town Cut? More destruction of our reef?
Perhaps the relationship with Royal Caribbean will result in more opportunities for local entertainers and musicians to perform for cruise visitors, along the lines of the hugely successful Made in Bermuda Nights that took place this summer. I am a member of The Wall Street Band, which performed at the Made in Bermuda Nights. There are many cruise destinations to our south which have local entertainment only when the cruise ships arrive in port there, and I hope to see this become a reality in Bermuda one day, as well. The visitors to Bermuda should have more opportunities to learn about our culture.
