No Certain Date For Cruise Ships To Return

March 15, 2021

There is “no certain date for the return” of scheduled cruise calls, Premier David Burt said, adding that “they have inquiries for cruise ships who want to berth from Bermuda and make Bermuda their home port” and “no decisions have been made as of yet.”

Speaking in the House of Assembly during the discussion on the budget, Premier Burt said, “There was a question regarding when will cruise ships return. There is no certain date for the return on scheduled calls at this point in time.

“We have inquiries for cruise ships who want to berth from Bermuda and make Bermuda their home port, and so we are continuing through those discussions.

“The Cabinet will be discussing this going forward, no decisions have been made as of yet,” he added. “The Bermuda Tourism Authority is working with the Government of Bermuda on the plans regarding cruise ships.”

Cruises were suspended for most of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and looking back at Bernews cruise ship article section, the last coverage we have of a cruise ship arriving was back in February 2020, with cruise suspensions starting in March 2020.
