PLP Donates $10,000 To Charity After Gala

Saying that “with over 800 attendees, this evening exceeding the expectations of the Events Committee,” the PLP donated $10,000 to charity following the ‘Wakanda Royalty’ Gala on Saturday, with the funds donated to Project Action, Women’s Resource Centre, Raleigh Bermuda, CADA, and the Foster Parents Association.

A PLP spokesperson said, “The Progressive Labour Party hosted its Wakanda Royalty Gala on Saturday November 8, 2018 at the Fairmont Southampton.

“With over 800 attendees, this evening exceeding the expectations of the Events Committee and Party Executive.

“In response to the overwhelming support of the community and sponsors, 10K was divided and donated to five worthy charities to support their operations:

  • Project Action: A free transportation service for seniors in care facilities that drives them to medical and other appointments
  • Women’s Resource Centre: A full-service organisation providing resources and courses to enhance the lives of women in Bermuda
  • Raleigh Bermuda: A charity that uses overseas expeditions, local training and ongoing coaching to challenge young Bermudians to harness their full potential and develop skills for life.
  • CADA: A charity founded in 1974 and with a mission to “Encourage responsible alcohol behaviour.”
  • Foster Parents Association of Bermuda: An association that provides Bermuda’s various levels of backing from parental guidance resources, to supplemental financial support, and it also provides guidance and financial resources for school supplies.
