World Rugby Classic: Lions & Argentina Win
The second day of the Bermuda World Rugby Classic saw the Classic Lions and Argentina both advance to the semi-finals.
Italy 13 – Classic Lions 20
Italy would take advantage of having the wind at their backs in the first half, Daniele Pesapane would go over for a try early and when Ramiro Pez kicked the conversion it gave Italy a 7 – 0 lead. Pez would add a penalty kick making it 10 – 0 after just 10 minutes.
The Classic Lions would pull within three when Gareth King scored a try and then Ceri Sweeney added the conversion making the score 10 – 7. Pez kicked another penalty kick for Italy to make the half time score 13 – 7.
The Classic Lions would completely shutout Italy in the second half, they would get a penalty kick from Sweeney which was followed by a Richard Carter try and Sweeney conversion gave the Classic Lions the lead 17 – 13 for the first time. Sweeney would add one more penalty kick to make the final score 20 – 13.
Argentina 41 – USA 7
The defending champions Argentina put on a show in defeating USA 41 – 7, Argentina would get 2 tries from Sebastian Crispo, while Rafael Carbello, Frederico Bock, Maurico Gimenez and Maurico Comuzzi would all add a try each, while Gonzalo Taboada kicked 4 conversions and 1 penalty. The USA would get a try from Ian Carpenter, with Maximo de Achaval added the conversion.
