‘Christmas In The City’ Late Night Shopping
The City of Hamilton is sponsoring Late Night Shopping on December 14th and 21st. As in previous years, lower Reid Street as well as Queen Street will be closed to vehicles as of 5pm allowing those areas to cater to more pedestrian traffic.
“All motor vehicles, including cycles must be removed from these areas by 4pm each Friday. Signage will be posted,” the City said.
“An array of entertainment including buskers, dance troupes, choirs as well as a DJ have been secured on the two evenings to add a festive element to the final nights of Friday Late Night Shopping. The City will also be surprising some lucky shoppers at the retailers’ tills when making purchases.
“Many of the City retailers are participating in the City Shopping Bag campaign on December 14th and 21st. Bags are free and still available from the offices in City Hall.
“Those retailers participating in the campaign are offering incentives to shoppers who have the bags, from discounts to gifts with purchase. The City is cognizant that a lot of plastic is given away by retailers, especially during the holidays, but with the City shopping bag, you can say ‘no’ to plastic and save.
