Results: MTB Racing Held At Lagoon Park
Fat Tire Massive held the third race of the 2018/2019 season today [Dec 9], with the event held at Lagoon Park in Sandys. The next race day is scheduled for January 6th at Admiralty House.
A spokesperson said, “Under the sponsorship of Arch Re, BF&M, One Communications , RMS Boatworks and Spar Yard Marine Solutions, the third Race of the 2018/19 Race Series was run today.
“Our season is heating up and the field of competitors is growing! 71 male and female racers took on the skills challenge offered by the “Lagoon” course. Jumps, dropoffs, rocky rooty climbs, huge berms and lots of cornering were laid out in a 1.4 mile track that rewarded racers hugely for mastering the obstacles. Light breeze and overcast skies made for good race conditions.
“In Open class, new faces changed the dynamic with Adam Kirk blazing around the course like he had a motor! Once the dust settled, Adam did indeed take first place, Hans Hirschi took second and Alan Potts secured third.
“In Novice, there was a shuffle among the regulars, Matthew Ringer earned a hard fought third place, showing his new prowess possibly resulting from secret training and a new 650 plus? Clive Langley took second and young Manning Smith has shown great improvement finishing First after four laps with average lap times to rival more than half of the open class.
“In Female Novice, last years competition re-ignited with Jen Wilson holding off Zina Jones for first. Jessica Gibbons came third. Our next race with all new routes added [organized, designed and run by RMS Boatworks!] will be at Admiralty House on January 6th.”
