Fundraising Page In Honour Of Kiara Paiva
A fundraising page has been set up on FaceBook to assist with funeral costs for 15-year-old Kiara Paiva. The fundraiser was started by the teen’s cousin Kenzie Paiva who lives overseas and said she wants “to do as much as possible for my family”. Extra proceeds will be donated to Bermuda’s Mental Health Foundation.
The “Kiara’s Movement” fundraising page description says, “Unfortunately, the Paiva family & friends have been dealing with the loss of a beautiful soul due to suicide. Kiara suffered for years silently & decided to take her life on Monday January 7.
“In my best efforts, I would like to raise as much money as possible for the funeral costs but also any extra i would love to donate to Bermuda Mental Health Foundation.
“Mental health has always been a strong factor in my personal life & it has very well taken a toll on our family. Every little donation counts & helps. I want Kiara to know she is loved & supported. She was a precious angel & her light did not get to shine. It is our job to make sure it shines for her. Thank you, from Paiva family & friends.”
On her personal page, cousin Kenzie Paiva said, “Hey everyone! I’m sure most are aware of the tragic news of my beautiful cousin. With that being said, I have decided to do as much as possible for my family, as I can’t hold and hug them through this sad time, so I have made this fundraiser to help support any funeral costs & I would like to continue to donate money to Bermuda’s Mental Health Foundation.
“If you could please take a few minutes out of your day to look at the link below & to please share you’ll be helping spread Kiara’s light that deserves to shine! Thank you for all of your support! We truly appreciate it! You’re forever in our hearts Kiara. Let us shine your light for you.”

My heart breaks for this family. No matter your thoughts on how we lost this young life, let’s show as much support and compassion as we can. My thoughts and prayers are with the Paiva family.
