New Human Rights Commissioners Appointed
The new Human Rights Commissioners have been announced in today’s official notices, with Vaughn Caines to serve as the Chairperson, while Ed Ball Jr will serve as the Deputy Chairperson.
The official notice said, “The Human Rights Act, 1981 [Act] provides for an independent Selection and Appointment Committee to appoint Human Rights Commissioners. Sections 13A and 13B of the Act set out the provisions for the selection and appointment of Commissioners, and as well, the functions of the Committee.
“The Selection and Appointment Committee is pleased to make the following appointments with effect from January 1, 2019.”
The Commissioners:
- Chairperson – Vaughn Caines
- Deputy Chairperson – Ed Ball, Jr
- Commissioner – Alex Potts
- Commissioner – Charleda Mahon Gibbons
- Commissioner – Cristen Seuss
- Commissioner – Kai Musson
- Commissioner – James McCulloch
- Commissioner – Rajeev Goonewardene
- Commissioner – Ravi Pachai
- Commissioner – Mary Lodge
- Commissioner – Jessica Steede
- Commissioner – Stacey-Lee Williams
