Photos & Video: Gilbert Lamb Good Friday Event

April 19, 2019

[Updated with more photos] St. David’s Cricket Club hosted their annual Gilbert Lamb Good Friday Fun Day today [April 19], with activities including the popular Mohawk Grand Prix, kite flying, music with Jugglin Jason, and other family events throughout the day.

Minister of Labour, Community Affairs and Sport Lovitta Foggo, who is currently travelling with Bermuda’s Carifta Team in Cayman offered the following Good Friday, Easter well wishes, saying, “I am pleased to extend my heartfelt holiday wishes to all of Bermuda and in particular, my Constituents.

Good Friday, which is also known as Gilbert Lamb day, is a truly wonderful time when we can come together from across our Island to celebrate our unique heritage. It’s a time for flying kites and consuming hot cross buns and cod fish cakes.

“For me, the Good Friday and Easter Sunday observances also symbolise a time of renewal and new beginnings. So, my wish for everyone over this Easter weekend is that we connect as a community and embrace the true tenets of this holiday – unconditional love, forgiveness, hope and rebirth.

“I hope everyone has a safe and happy Good Friday and a blessed Easter.”

Good Friday celebrations took place at various locations across the island, and you can view all our photos and coverage of this year, and past years’ Good Friday celebrations by clicking here.
