Bermuda Loses To Panama In Davis Cup Game 2

Bermuda continued competing in the Davis Cup Americas Group III event in San Jose, Costa Rica, as they look to win promotion to Group II for 2020.

Bermuda took on Panama in their second match and went down 2 – 1.

First to go on court was Trey Mallory, who went down in straight sets to Marcelo Rodriguez in a battle that lasted one hour and three minutes.

Rodriguez won the first set 6-4 and the second set 6-2.

Gavin Manders then took to the court for the second match and provided some heroics, defeating Jose Gilbert Gomez in a three set battle that took two hours and two minutes.

Manders won the first set 6-1, but Gomez won the second set 6-3. Gomez was leading the third set 5-2 before Manders fought back to win the next five games to win the set 7-5.

With the match level at 1-1, Manders and Neal Towlson took to the court for the doubles against Luis Gomez and Rodriguez. Manders and Towlson went down in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 in a battle that took one hour and nine minutes.
