BNAA National Championships This Weekend
The BNAA will be holding their National Championships on Friday [June 7] from 5.30pm to 7.00pm and Saturday [June 8] from 11.00am to 3.00pm at the National Sports Centre.
Bermuda National Athletics Association President Donna Raynor said, “”The BNAA will be holding their National Championships this coming weekend. The championships begin Friday June 7th 5:30pm – 7:00pm and Saturday June 8th 11:00am – 3:00pm at the National Sports Centre.
“We will be having a team from AAU USA competing against our local athletes. They will be bringing in a team of 20 athletes and we are looking forward to a good competition.
“We will be having our local Carifta athletes participate. We are also preparing for athletes to compete in the NACAC Age Group competition [11-12 m/f & 13-13 m/f] which is a multi event competition therefore we will have them competing in events like hurdles, baseball throw, sprints and distance events over the two day period with the results going toward assisting with our selection of the team.
“The team arrives Wednesday and will be staying at the Grotto Bay Hotel. With the overseas athletes if there are any records broken by their athletes they will be ‘all-comers records’ and not ‘national records’.
“We are excited about our championships as we have not had overseas guests at our championships for a number of years. This is all moving towards our athlete preparation for next year’s Carifta Games being held in Bermuda.”
