Captive Hall Of Fame Welcomes Four Insurers

June 4, 2019

Four more captive insurance companies have been admitted to Bermuda’s Captive Hall of Fame after completing 25 years of business from the island.

The Hall of Fame was created by the industry in 2016 to highlight captive entities with a quarter-century commitment to the Bermuda market. More than 200 Bermuda-based companies now share the honour.

The latest group of inductees will be celebrated at next week’s Bermuda Captive Conference [June 10–12] at the Fairmont Southampton. Established in Bermuda in 1994, they are: Fairtide Insurance, Iboba Insurance, Pitts Bay Insurance Company, and Trimark Insurance.

“We salute these companies and their longstanding commitment to our market,” said Conference Chair Mike Parrish. “They join an impressive group of captive entities representing worldwide corporations that have chosen Bermuda for its innovation, reputation, and world-class regulation and expertise. Our Captive Hall of Fame is a testament to the evolution of our market.”

This year’s 15th conference is expected to attract close to 800 delegates, including captive insurance owners, risk managers, captive managers, sponsors, and vendors from the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the United Kingdom. Three days of moderated panels and roundtables will focus on hot topics like insurtech, cyber-risk, climate change and healthcare, as well as emerging risks.

Another major commendation presented at the event is the Fred Reiss Lifetime Achievement Award, which this year goes to Jeremy Cox, Executive Chair of the Bermuda Monetary Authority [BMA], who is also the 2019 industry spotlight speaker. YouTube comedian Tripp Crosby will be the event keynote.

Bermuda is the top global captive jurisdiction, home to more than 700 captive insurance companies supporting primarily Fortune 500 corporations in the US and generating $40 billion in annual gross written premiums.
