Dr Reddy: ‘Committed To Support The Fight’
“We will continue to fight tooth and nail to protect what we all believe to be your fundamental, constitutional right to confidentiality,” Dr. Maheesh Reddy said in a letter sent by to Bermuda HealthCare Services’ patients whose files were removed by the police.
This is the latest development in the situation regarding the investigation into the BHCS and Brown-Darrell medical clinics, which are owned by former Premier Dr Ewart Brown, with patients — whose records were seized by the police in 2017 as part of the investigation into the clinics — seeking the return of their private medical files.
Dr. Maheesh Reddy said, “After what you may have seen and heard in the media about the recent court hearings, I’m writing to let you know that we are committed to support the fight to keep the lawyers on your case who have fought tirelessly for you over the past two years.
“We strongly disagree with the Court’s interpretation of the facts, application of the law, and conclusion. The rulings made have been appealed. We remain confident that relief will be given in the higher courts. Further, we regret that it appears that help will not come from our local officials, since neither the Governor nor the Police Commissioner have given you the courtesy of a public response.
“We will continue to fight tooth and nail to protect what we all believe to be your fundamental, constitutional right to confidentiality, which was unnecessarily breached by the BPS. For now, be assured that the BPS have undertaken not to access your files.
“Right and justice will prevail! United we will stand!”
