Gordon Pamplin Objects To ‘Insulting’ Remark

July 14, 2019

Shadow Health Minister Patricia Gordon-Pamplin criticized Minister David Burch over what she said was an “insulting and offensive” remark during a speech in the House of Assembly.

“Last Friday [July 5], the Minister of Public Works David Burch, spoke in the House during the Motion to Adjourn,” the OBA said. “During his speech, he addressed Mrs Gordon-Pamplin who had made a remark and said, ‘yes, we can always count on you to carry their water.’

“He was asked to apologise by Mrs Gordon-Pamplin who said the remark was ‘insulting and offensive’. However the Minister refused, saying ‘that’s what I believe, everyone is entitled to their opinion,” the OBA added.

Audio excerpt of part of the exchange:

Ms Gordon-Pamplin said: “I am more than pleased to stand up for myself and my colleagues as we are a team.

“The Minister clearly has issues that he needs to address as I am sure he is uncomfortable with the barbs thrown at him by his own colleagues so it is clearly a foreign concept to understand ‘team’.

“We should not have to sit and listen to any Minister vilifying us with these misogynistic remarks. We have already seen this particular Minister make derogatory remarks about the Chief Justice and an independent Senator.”

  1. Paul says:

Burch, has major issues, and should seek help.

    • Good Job says:

      Ms. Pamolin.

Try not to take it personally. He is a power hungry bully with Napoleon complex who’s biggest a acompishment in life was his time in the Bermuda Regiment where he was able to bully new recruits for years. This is all he knows. He had to leave because he was starting to meet his match. Politics was the next best thing. Funny how under his reign many men that at 18 were forced to sign up for the Regiment were initiated by being pepper sprayed. If they refused they were locked up. Today you get paid.

    • OMG says:

Burch is the PLP’s biggest liability. They should rid of this….. but no, it just goes on and on and on and on feeding his pleasure.

  2. inna says:

Good to know that Burch and co are getting paid $156,864 per year to act like children in a playground!

    Un-be-lievable!!!

  3. Toodle-oo says:

As if we need any further proof of where the racially divisive politics are originating from .

  4. Carry my handbag says:

There is no end to David Burch’s nastiness, he is unfit for public office. As a shareholder I vote to remove him from the payroll.

  5. Onion Juice says:

The truth is an offence, but not a sin.

    • Truthhertz says:

Guess that’s why you get so upset and defensive when people rightly criticize the PLP.

But either way his mindset is the Party’s view. Nastiness from top to bottom.

    • Question says:

Being a spoiled brat overpaid incompetent rude government minister is what then? Fine with you as long as he’s a certain appearance. .

    • Mark says:

Trust you to wade in with your usual pointless idiotic racist ramblings. You must be a part-time speech writer for the Pee El Pee.

    • Gina Spinicelli says:

I am not surprised at anything that comes out of that man’s mouth. Too bad we cannot tell him what we think of his dirty nasty mouth. It’s also ignorant that the premiere never reprimands him. He really needs to get rid of him once and for all.

    • Real Deal says:

    • Toodle-oo says:

*Pay back the money you owe to the government *

Just as soon as other ‘certain people ‘ pay back their millions from deals like Port Royal gate , Berkeley gate , dock gate , court bldg gate , faith based tourism gate , Sands 360 gate and a few dozen others.
      Hold your breath , k ?

    • sandgrownan says:

      Havoc? Examples please.

  13. Acegurl says:

Mr Burch is a rude and insensitive individual with no filter between his thought process and his mouth. He is like a petulant child when he doesn’t get his way. How dare he make such derogatory remarks against an intelligent and articulate woman namely, Patricia Gordon-Pamplin , who has the ability to ‘speak over’ his caustic remarks on any given day. So what if she serves her party and acts like a team player, isn’t that what party politics is all about? You need to go back to school Mr Burch and learn how to debate effectively. At no point does it serve your best interests to bully, demean and attempt to humiliate your opponent when you are arguing a point. You should have learned how to conduct yourself by now and we the taxpayers are paying for this. Utterly ridiculous. Time for retirement.

  14. Onion Juice says:

As long as they keep their mandate.

    • kevin says:

And that would be what ……..to absolutely ruin this country …. Burch is only a part of a much bigger problem , when one isn’t smart enough to win a discussion it turns nasty they can only try to degrade its the only way they can feel like a winner ….to be simpler its called bullying …but burch only has mouth not smart enough to understand that but you voted these clowns in and you got what you asked for

    • JAYBIRD says:

He can say whatever he likes – and you don’t have to like it, but you do have to live with it. Forever! 25-11!!!

    • Mark says:

What mandate is that oh ignorant one? To drive Bermuda into Fourth World status before the next election?

  15. Birdlegs says:

He need to go. If the racial divide is ever going to go away then he must do. Mr Burch please seek help.

  16. Rocky5 says:

The Speaker is useless. The Colonel is an entitled nasty old man-child but this what 25 – 11 majority wanted. There will be long term consequences as most investors will not put a cent into a jurisdiction run by nasty ignorant bigots..

  17. La Verdad says:

I do not agree with what you say, Lt Col Burch, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. That goes for all the other foolish and hateful comments on this blog.

  18. steve says:

the speaker and Burch are hopelessly embarrassing.

  19. Charlly X says:

If he was wearing Ova/Ubp red jacket you bies would be in agreement with his sarcasm. Yuh just mad his choice of adjectives….. Along with the composition of grammar is poetry..

  20. Anbu says:
