Squash Players Advance In Pan American Games
Bermuda’s Micah Franklin and Noah Browne took to the Squash Courts for individual play at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, making a strong start in their first day of action.
Franklin took on Israel Aguilar from El Salvador and advanced after defeating his opponent 3 – 1.
Aguilar won the first match in 8 minutes 11-6, but after a 7 minute second match Franklin leveled the game winning the match 11-8. Franklin would then take the lead when he won the third match 11-8 in a game that took 10 minutes, and Franklin then closed things out with a 11-4 fourth game win.
Browne took on Maximilliano Pizarro from Chile, with Browne falling 3 – 1.
Browne won the first match 11-8 in 6 minutes, but Pizarro won the second game 12-10 in a game that took 12 minutes. Pizarro took the lead when he won the third match 11-3 in 6 minutes, and then he then closed out the match winning the fourth game 11-5.
Browne and Franklin then took to the court for the Men’s Doubles where they matched up against Chile.
The Bermuda pair came from a game down to win 2 – 1. Chile won the first game 11-9, but Browne and Franklin leveled the game at 1 – 1 when they picked up the 11-7 win, and it came down to a final match that saw Browne and Franklin win 11-2 to advance.
